' Sunlore' is a small kennel in
beautiful South East Queensland which has for 30 years been dedicated in
breeding quality English Cocker Spaniels.
My early stock came from some
of the very best and well known kennels...
BRIGHTLEAF, DANDAUL, LEHEARN
The dogs from these lines
became the foundation for the SUNLORE Cocker Spaniels of today.
My love of Cockers started way back when I saw a Blue
Roan and Tan dog called Ch Lakana Liberty who was owned and shown by Mr Graham
Wright, winning Best in Group at the Brisbane Royal. I was smitten with the
breed. I bought my first cocker from Mrs Carol Blackwood - Citation Blue
Buttons was her name and together we began a life of showing. Along the way I
have bred and made up lots of Champions, including Best in Show winners.
I bought my daughter Karen a pointer for her 14th
birthday. His name was Ch Haywyn Star Trek purchased from a top lady and
gundog judge Mrs Bev Clare. Karen now lives on 10 beautiful acres in
Palmwoods 1 hour from Brisbane, and is having much success with her "Treeview"
Beagles and Pointers. Around the same time I purchased a blue roan
Cocker baby Lehearn Blue Stratos. He did me proud with many classes in Show
and 4 Best in Show awards. He is pictured in my memories photo's.
Five and 1/2 years ago I purchased another pup from
Edna & Syd Flynn, this was Lehearn Hearts Delight. She has been a great
asset to Sunlore producing 5 champions to date. She has now retired from
the showring as a Grand Champion and our spoilt pet. Jeff my partner and
I live on acreage in Morayfield North Brisbane where our dogs live in
beautiful surrounds. They are our pets first, Show dogs second.
I have been out of the showring for a while awaiting
youngsters to grow up and awaiting the arrival of my first English Import
Cocker Spaniel who I might say is going to be a handful. Much patience is
going to be needed with this boy.
